I recently returned to Coniston to walk up The Old Man. I was eager to show Chris the unusual wobbly rock that lay besides Goats Water.
All the surrounding rocks are 'normal' with little evidence of erosion, yet this rock looks as though a multitude of rivulets have gorged and gouged their way through the surface layer. Fascinating.
Further along on the walk I came across some slate (I presume) which was like a mountain range silhouette. reminding me of the high peaks of the Alps.
Although I have moved away from using the mountain ranges of the Lake District in my work, I still feel drawn towards their imagery.
